Why does SUM(D8:F8) show up in Excel?

When I try to add several cells by AutoSum, the only thing that shows in the
resulting cell says "SUM(D8:F8)," not a number.

There has to be an = (or a +) in front of the SUM part otherwise it's treated
as text.

Until you accept the formula by pressing "Enter", Excel tells you the cells
selected, not the value. Press "Enter".
