Hi. I just got a Dell Dimension XPS Gen 2 with the Dell 2001FP monitor. I
have a dual-monitor setup, with the Dell flat panel hooked up via the
digital connection and a Samsung SyncMaster 191T hooked up via the analog
connection. The video card is a 256MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 XT with (I think)
the latest drivers on the Dell site; the monitor drivers are recent, too.
I've set up the bigger Dell flat panel to be my primary monitor, running at
1600x1200; the Samsung is the secondary and runs at 1280x1024.
Unfortunately, every time I reboot, the Dell monitor gets reset to 800x600
or lower, and the Windows taskbar moves over to the secondary monitor (whose
resolution stays at 1200x1024). If I disconnect the secondary monitor and
use just the Dell, then there is no problem; it's only when I use the
dual-monitor setup that the resolution changes on reboot. Hibernating the
system doesn't affect the resolution -- just the reboot.
Anyone know why this might be happening, and what I can do about it?
Thanks for any help,
Mike
