Why does my laptop slow down then hang when I use Outlook?

I've just bought a new IBM ThinkPad laptop and installed Office 2003.
Whenever I use Outlook, the first few operations (opening / closing emails,
etc.) are OK after thisthe reposonse time becomes slower and slower for each
operation before finally my machine seizes up (with task manager showing 100%
CPU utilisation from Outlook and Outlook 'not responding'). I've tried
re-installing Office but this hasn't helped.

Any advice much appreciated.

Have you updated to the latest Office 2003 Service Pack? That's the first
step.

Thanks, Bill. Yes - I had updated to SP2. After trying several things, I went
for the complete 'restore factory settings' on my laptop as it was quite new
and so there wasn't too much info to lose. After a struggle to re-install
Office, everythi ng is now fine.

Appreciated your help and time.
