Why does a report disappear when selecting Print Preview?

I'm not sure if this is an error or just a misunderstanding on how the print
preview and displaying a report works.

When you run and display a report, if you select the "print preview" menu
option the report disappears. So you have to rerun the report to have it
open again.

Can someone clarify this issue?

It's a toggle. Depressed and you're in preview mode and can look at the
report. Press it again and it becomes un-depressed which tells Access to
leave preview mode. Thus, the report closes.

I agree that it's a stupid interface.
