Why do NVIDIA Drivers use 850MB of disk space?

Windows XP
latest NVIDIA drivers, version 180 or so

Does anyone know offhand, why NVIDIA drivers take up almost 1GB of
space?

Thanks.

Yours have been infected by a huge virus perhaps? The full package
download is only about 80MB, and that includes a lot of helper apps.
that don't need to be installed. -Dave

Maybe M$ designed the drivers for them. ;)

You joke, but there were some drivers at one point that required
Microsoft .Net framework be installed BEFORE the video drivers were
installed. I don't remember if that was an nvidia thing or an ATI
thing. But adding .net could easily push the requirements for the
video card to over 1GB of software. -Dave

Yeah, that is a clue... The largest "NV..." named file is about
13MB.

After that search, I go back into Control Panel -- Remove Programs,
and NVIDIA Drivers is now 1,026.00MB.

Unless there is something wrong with Control Panel, uninstalling and
reinstalling should fix the problem.

Would that be the same add and remove programs that will tell you that a
program you use every day is 'used infrequently'? Have you actually looked
at the NVidia folder to see how big it is?

I have no NVidia folder. As mentioned, I did a search but found
nothing big.

Hehe, funny. Was just browsing some groups and noticed your message.
It's good my boss doesn't check this list. Using visual studio all day long
five
days a week; its usage is listed as 'sometimes' (translated). Oh oh.

Marcel

FWIW. Might have had something to do with having deleted the C:
\NVIDIA folder.
