Why do my word doc attachments open as Reading Layout view?

Whenever I attach a word document to send in an email, or receive a word doc,
it always opens up in Reading Layout view. This occurs even though I've
saved my word doc in print view or normal view. I have been sending out
resumes and it appears like I have a 6-page resume. Who wants to bother
reading all that?
Is there a setting I need to change. Please help.

FMW, in Word you can disable opening in "Reading Layout View". Open Word,
click on "Tools", then "Options", then click on the "General" tab, then
uncheck "Allow starting in Reading Layout".

Rob,
Thank you so much! I did not even notice the Reading Layout View check box
while I was troubleshooting my problem.
Just a few minutes ago I sent out another resume, and this time it opens as
the 2 pages that it really is!
