Why do messages I send appear in my Outlook inbox?

The messages I send in Outlook 2003 appear in my Outlook inbox. I am using
Gmail POP access for my email server. How do I configure Outlook 2003 to
automatically put my sent messages in my outbox? Outlook downloads my email
and put my sent emails in my inbox. My inbox is becoming overcrowded and
unruly.
Please help.

I have the same problem with my hotmail account in Outlook 2003. A copy of
every mesg that I send appears in my Inbox. I've tried going through the
options to change this but the send settings are grayed out.
