why do I get square brackets around links in word 2007?

When pasting a formatted email from exchange to word, I get square brackets
around the links? How can I turn it off and keep all other formatting? why is
it showing up?

Hi tsvika tal,

Probably because you've checked the 'Sow bookmarks' option under Word Options|Advanced > Show document content.
