Why do I always get a meeting recurrence when editing an appointme

Every time I set up a meeting and edit it slightly or even invite an
attendee, Outlook 2007 (on Vista) alwasy assigns it as a recurring meeting. I
have looked everywhere and have no idea why this happens. It is driving me
crazy
