why can't I send emails from different locations?

I have 8 email accts configured in Outlook and have no problems whatsoever at
work or at home with my own wireless network. But whenever I am traveling
and connect at another location (wirelessly or wired) and try to
send/receive, I receive but cannot send. I have tried clicking the "log on
to incoming mail server before sending mail" button, but still no joy

Not surprising. Most ISPs require you to use their mail server when sending
mail or they consider it relaying, which most ban. You have to change the
SMTP server to be one in the same network as your connection. See if this
helps:

OK- thanks for that info Brian. Is there a way to configure Outlook with
location profiles to do this? Otherwise it sounds like every time I connect
at a different network location I have to manually change SMTP info on all 8
email accts. I don;t understand why sending with Outlook isn't the same as
any web-based email service...

Outlook isn't a web-oriented application. You'd have the same issue for any
SMTP-based mail client, like Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or Eudora.
Web-based mail services permit you to view the mail directly on the server
where they reside and you send mail directly fro the server. You don't use
another network in an attempt to relay.

There are third party tools that allow you to switch more easily. Google
can help you find them. Here's one: http://www.bluehighwaysoftware.com/
