Why cant I see a word doc file list in Front Page

I save a word doc with images as a web page. It creates a directory with the
supporting files ( XML list with the images) I can see this directory in the
explorer but not in FP so I can't publish the directory.

That is a thicket (folder associated w/a file)
- hidden by FP
- publish your site and FP will publish the thicket folder

Or in Word change your save options to not create a separate folder for associated files

Thanks a lot. Problem is I publish file by file with FTP as others also
publish to the same site. Is there a way I can change the file & dir type
from a thicket to a normal folder?

Ick. Don't do that.

Use FrontPage to make an HTML file.

It will save lots of headaches.

No
But you can have Word save the files w/o a folder when you change the save as options in Word
