Why cannot NAV delete infected file?

After my latest full virus scan, NAV (part of SystemWorks 2002)
reported these 3, the first of which it can neither quarantine nor
delete.

Unknown00000000.data W32.Mimail.A@mm Delete failed
message.html W32.Mimail.A@mm Quarantined
message.zip W32.Mimail.A@mm Quarantined

But they are all the same virus, W32.Mimail.A@mm, so why can't it
delete Unknown00000000.data?

Bottom line for NAV was 'Your computer is still infected'. Although
I'm not seeing any obvious signs of it, naturally I'd be more
comfortable to get rid if that file. Any advice please?

Sounds to me like you are OK. It is only 1 virus. Norton first tried to
delete the message and could not. It then quarantined the html portion and
the zip portion separately. If you look in quarantined items, you should
see them both and should be able to delete them from there. To be sure,
have you tried to run a full system scan?

Thanks Andy. Yes, this occurred at the end of the week's scheduled
full scan (about 500,000 files!) To be honest, it also happened at the
end of last week's as well. That was the first time. I've only now got
around to posting about it. BTW, a search for
Unknown00000000.data (or Unknown*.data) across my HD came up with zero
hits, which seems puzzling.
