Why border on slides?

I have a white border around my slides when printed. ABout 1 inch at bottom
and 1/4 inch around the other sides. I have portrait view and added a
background trying to do a portfolio. Need to have the background printed to
edge of paper.

Any suggestions?

With those dimensions of white it appears you are printing with a color
inkjet printer. Most can not print all the way to the edges or bottom of
the page. You need to find the total print area of your printer and/or find
a printer that will print to the edges. Read the documentation that came
with your printer for its specifications. There is also ways to determine
the full print area of your printer.
