Why are all people in my movies tall and skinny?

I'm not sure if this is a camcorder setting or a movie maker problem, but
everything I record looks 'squished'. The people look tall and skinny
(which, under any other circumstances, would be fine lol)

When I play back on my camcorder, everything looks fine. As soon as I
capture with Movie Maker, I get these lousy results.

I've studied the camcorder user guide and have been all over the Windows
Movie Maker sites, with no answers.

Any ideas anyone? I can send you a link to one of my videos so you can see
for yourself. It's very aggravating!

Send the link... maybe you're shooting in widescreen mode and have your
setting in Movie Maker to standard 4:3 aspect ratio.... Tools > Options >
Advanced Tab is where you change it

That's it !!! Camcorder is set by default to shoot 16:9 and WMM is set to 4:3.

Is it then a true statement that if they are both set to the same aspect
ration, then online (web) viewing results will be fine - whether they are set
to 16:9 OR 4:3?

Movie Maker puts a tag in the saved movie, telling the Windows Media Player
to view it as widescreen or standard... so render it to the one you want it
viewed at.
