Why am I getting paragraph symbols in the text when forwarding

When forwarding or replying to an email, I am getting/seeing the "paragraph
symbol", the "return" symbol, in the body of the message that I am forwarding
or replying to. Why is this, and how can I correct this? Somehow, the
formatting has changed; I am not sure if I inadvertantly hit some key that
did this.

HELP !!! This looks awful to have to send a message this way.

LisaD: I had same problem and received the answer. My problem was solved by
selecting Tools > Options (from the new message or reply menu bar) > View tab
and deselecting All under the formatting marks section.
