Why Access 2007 donot have the "Data Access Page" Function ? How I can do with 2007 for this issue ?

Martin

I notice that Access 2007 doNOT have the "Data Access Page" functionality.

1. Why ??? I think this function is important.

2. How I can make the web page efficiently if 2007 do Not have this
function?

3. If I developed the "Data Access Pages" with Access 2003, how I can handle
these already existing pages when I use them in 2007 ?

Thank you for your prompt answer.

The Data Access Pages functionality has been deprecated in Office 2007; so
if you want to continue to develop your DAPs, you need to use Access 2003
instead of Access 2007. Maybe this is not a good new for you but sadly to
say, there is nothing else you can do about that and it's a 100% certainty
that they will never come back in any future version of Access.

I believe the reason was that very few people used that functionality at
all. There were more support issues than usage. Microsoft has replace much
of the functionality with Sharepoint connectivity. They've developed it evn
further in Access 2010.

I really donot understand why Microsoft move out this function.

Well, for one, it never worked very well.

Secondly, it only worked in IE.

Third, it required the Office Web Components be installed, and those
have proven to have a number of major security vulnerabilities.

As Arvin says, Sharepoint is MS's answer to the scenarios DAPs were
created for. From my point of view, DAPs were a feature that was
never really finished, likely because by the time A2000 was
released, the future of development at MS was .NET and DAPs didn't
fit into that at all. Sharepoint 2010 with Access Services and
Access 2010 finally gives you an excellent solution for the web
scenario.
