Why 2 different windows when printing emails?

Hi.

When I open an email and select File | Print sometimes I get a window that
lets me select which printer to use and has tabs across the top that say
General, Options, Settings, Troubleshooting and Maintenance. Other times
when I select File | Print a different window appears that gives me the
printer name, print style (memo style) and a print option that allows print
attached files with item(s). What triggers which of these 2 windows to
appear when trying to print? Everytime the second window appears (the one
that has memo style listed) my email will not print to my local printer. My
emails print fine when the first window appears (the one that has the tabs
General, Options, Settings, ...)

Your help is appreciated, thank you.

The format of the e-mail will control this. An HTML message will elicit the
same Print widget available in Internet Explorer. A Plain Text or Rich Text
message will elicit an Outlook Print widget allowing to you specify the
style.

Thank you Brian for the clarification.

Do you know what may cause my plain text emails not to print to my local
printer? It had been working in the past but not anymore. I have a network
printer also and it prints fine there. I reinstalled the printer driver for
my local printer but that did not fix the problem. Do you think I should
reinstall Outlook?

Thank you.

Brian - I get two different windows too and I wonder if it has anything to
do with a printing problems that I can't seem to figure out: When I try to
print HTML emails to my duplex printer they always start printing to the
wrong side (so my printouts are on the back of my letterhead). This only
happens with HTML emails with the duplex option on.

If I am printing HTML email with the duplex option off, or if I am printing
text emails (with duplex option on OR off) or if I am printing from ANY other
application (with duplex option on or off) my printouts are on the correct
side of the page.

How do I fix this so that HTML emails printed from Outlook are printing on
the right side of the page?

Does the printer appear in the Print widget? Can you print to it with, say,
Internet Explorer?

Sorry. I haven't a clue. Have you spoken with the vendor of the print
driver?

Brian:

My local printer does appear in the printer widget when printing plain text
messages and when printing html messages in Outlook. I can print from
Internet Explorer and from Word too.

And when you select that printer and click OK, do you get any errors? Does
the Print Monitor appear in your System tray? Does it appear that Wiondows
is printing and nothing comes out, or is there another problem?

Brian:

When I click OK no errors are given. The Printer Monitor appears on the
system tray but no print job shows in the printer queue. It appears as
Windows is trying to print but nothing comes out.
