White Space in Database?

We have an old jet database, made in Access 97, we have been adding to it for
years, and the mdb file has unpredictible growth spruts, it will go for
months at one size then suddenly increase by 10, 20 or even 50 meg.
Is there a way you can tell how much *white space* is in there, so we can
have a better idea of how close we are to the gig limit?

Hi DLW,

Make a copy of your current database just in case. In your original, go to
Tools>Database Utilies>Compact Repair. This will compress the database and
remove excess space.
