White retangle on wallpaper

I can't figure out why I always have a small vertical white rectangle located
right center on my desktop wallpaper whenever I choose a photo as my
wallpaper. I'm not frustrated enough to pay Microsoft $35 to tell me how to
get rid of it, but I'm certainly hopeful that someone out there has the
answer.

Hi,
Is the photo appearing at all, or appearing with the white rectangle over
the wallpaper.
If the photo is not appearing, but only the rectangle, try changing the
photo to a bmp
(example; photoname.bmp) and see if it shows up. You can use a program
called Irfanview or something similar to save the photo as a different
extension.
After you change it, remember to go to desktop properties and change your
wallpaper to the new photo you created when you changed the extension.

The O.P. couldn't post here, but was able to email me and we got to the
problem...

Thanks for posting an answer to my question! For some reason I can't respond
on the discussion window, so I'm sending this email. I can see my wall paper
(regardless if it's a picture or any of the standard Windows wallpapper) but
I always have one small white rectangle in the right center of my desktop.
It's the wierdest thing! I've attached a screenshot so you can see. What's
strange is the bar is not there while Windows is booting, but it appears as
soon as the icons populate. Do you have any idea how I can get rid of it?

Hi again,
Open the photo with paintbrush and see if the white box shows there also.
If
so then its the photo.
Also try a different photo to see if it does the same thing.
If it still does then try this...
1- Right click on the desktop and choose properties.
2- Left click on the desktop tab.
3- Left click on the box at the bottom that says "customize desktop"
4- Left click on the Web tab at the top.
5- In the box where it says "Web Pages" make sure none of them are
selected.
6- Click Ok, then OK again.
Let me know,
Dave

Dave, you're a prince! I did have a box selected under "Web Pages" and after
I de-selceted it, the mysterious white bar disappeared. I apreciate your
help!

Enjoy your weekend.......

Thanks,
Susan
