Not sure if this is the right place but o well.

When i play a game on the computer it will let me play it for about 5 min or
so and then it restarts. This is any game not a particular one. My windows
has just recovered from a virues so that might have something to do with it
but how do i fix it. Any help would be great cause at the moment i have no
idea where to look for a problem.

This could be entirely coincidental to the virus infection. When you are
playing any current games the CPU is being stressed to the max. Therefore it
generates much more heat that when typing a letter, surfing the internet or
using a newsgroup reader. If your cooling system isn't up to snuff the CPU
may shut down to prevent damage to itself.

Open the case and make certain that every fan you see is spinning at a fast
rate of speed. See if they are impacted with dust. If they are, clean the
fan and heatsink for the CPU or any fan that seems clogged with dust.

If you don't know how, take the computer to a service technician.

Couple of issues can involve automatic restarts. First, it could be a bad
power supply problem. Second, it could be an overheating issue, which is
probaby the issue here.

How old is your computer and when did this started happening? Does it only
involve when you play a video game? Did you update your video card to the
latest firmware upgrade? Also, try running a lot of things at once in your
computer to get your CPU working. You can try playing music, watch a video,
stream video online, etc. to get your CPU working and see if that also give
you the automatic reboots.

XP has an option to give you the Blue Screen of Death instead of
automatically restarting your computer. To disable automatically restarting
your computer, right click your computer to get into System Properties.
Next, click on the Advanced tab and then hit the Settings button under
Startup and Recovery. After that, uncheck the Automatically Restart option
and hit OK. See if it gives you a BSOD next time the computer reboots. Hope
this can be a good starting point for you.
