Which versions of Windows Media Player Can Play these files?

I've been experimenting with Windows Movie Maker and love
the end result. It was so easy to learn!

However, I'm having problems playing the movie file that
is created. It plays fine on my Windows XP machine at
the office, but when I try to play the file using the
Windows Media Player on the computers at home (one
Windows 2000, the other Windows XP), I get only audio,
and a black screen for video.

Does Windows Media Player create a new type of file that
only later versions of Windows Media Player can handle?
I'm wondering if I need to download and install a newer
version of Windows Media Player on these machines. Has
anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
DD

I've been experiencing this too. Some users that access videos from my web site (on Home page: www.3Senoritas.com) can only hear the audio and can't see the video.

I can see it on Windows 2000, NT and XP.

Any insight on this would be GREATLY appreciated! For now I've directed users to update Windows Media Player. Not really thrilled with this solution.

Could be a Codec issue. Users may not have the latest codecs.

So far 9.1 seems to work the best, i've got it to work
on 7.1 also. At first only had audio and a black screen,
then i went into options folder and unchecked the
security box and downloaded the codecs for 7.0 media
player. My problems is i can't change the file format
from wmv to mpeg. Mpeg format seems to work best on all
versions of Media player. Can anyone help?
