How do I determine which version of XP I have?

Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and click on the Help menu on the toolbar
at the top of the screen.
Select About Windows from the menu that drops down.

You can also go to Start -> Run and enter winver in the Open box. Click OK.

Good luck

In the display it says Windows XP Media Center, but it only says version 5.1
in the text. I was moving around in Windows and came to a screen that said I
have XP Professional. What is going on, and what is the difference between
the two?

Inability to join a domain in Media Center and Media Center components added
to Media Center - basically.

Buckeyefan1,
Still another approach:
Win+R||type MSInfo32 in the "Open" box||OK button

Still another approach:
Start||rtclk on My Computer||Properties||General tab
