which Inkjet printer for occasional use

I have an old HP Deskjet 952C which has finally died.

I primarily use a laserjet and do black and white only.

I'm looking to replace my Inkjet with something comparable -
I want

8.5 x 11
cartridges that are relatively resistant to clogging when
not used for a few weeks at a time
capable of doing a good job on 4x6 photos
I need the ability to print envelopes

I don't want a Lexmark or a Dell - other than that.... all
suggestions appreciated.

I think the best choice is an HP with an integrtated printhead in the cart.

Also you might want to consider the Canon IP4300. You can let it sit a
couple of weeks at a time. Maybe even 3.

.. I have a Canon pixma 4200 and it has never clogged despite being left for
weeks at a time. The print quality is superb. I also have two old HP
inkjets and they have also been first class printers.

All inkjets as you can appreciate will require usage... some more than
others, I have a Canon ip5000, I used to do a small photo print on
plain paper once a week.... I now do one every couple of weeks and
never ever had any clogs to date.

No matter what inkjet it is.... you really don't wanna' be keeping it
near a window... ie direct sunlight nor 'parked' next to a radiator
etc.

The Canon's a vast difference to the Epson C62 I had.... that was a
real "cloggity clogg", every other day, I don't know how
Epsons are today... "but I ain't finding out".

Lexmark makes printers for Dell as you may know.... but I'm sure in
saying with a Dell printer you can only use Dell carts. and not
Lexmarks.

With Lexmark when you want a refill ya' better buying a new
Lexmark...!

"I've been Canonised...."

This is true when you always use Canon OEM ink
