Which e-mail program to choose

G

Gene L.

I have single user, home computer running Vista Home Premium (32 Bit). My
e-mail usage level is fairly low. (About 15 - 20 per day.) Right now, I
have two e-mail systems on my machine namely Windows Mail and Microsoft
Office Outlook 2007. I am looking for advice on which one to use. Windows
Mail appears to be the simpler one and would satisfy my requirements but I
do not wish to use it if it is likely to be discontinued in the near future.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

Windows Mail is not available in later versions of Windows. You can download
and install Windows Live Mail for free, which works with Windows 7 and is
likely to be available for use in versions beyond Windows 7. You can use
Outlook and it is likely to be available for many more years but Outlook is
much more than what you need. You can use Outlook though if it works for
you.

You can use Windows Mail in Win 7. However it takes a little work to get the
right files from Vista to Win 7 so it works.

It also requires a little familiarity of the technicalities of Windows and
such. If someone has problems with it, then it takes time from the experts
to help them. The people that provide help the most around here would prefer
to encourage most people to use other solutions. It is not supported by
Microsoft and Microsoft would just say don't do it.

Do you have the time to help someone that has taken your advice and that
gets into trouble? Do you monitor this newsgroup daily?
