Which DVD to use

Hi yall
I am going to make some DVD's on my pc and am wondering which DVD format is
the most compatable with most home DVD players, DVD+R or DVD-R.
Makeing DVD's for my kids to play at home (movies).

Well i use the + DVD at home but i want to make DVD's for my kids and they
all have different brands,so i wanted to know which would work in most
brands.

DVD-R being the 'most common' format is highly debatable, even from the info
given on videohelp.com

The 'most compatible' format is to use DVD+R and change the booktype to
DVD-ROM (which you
CANNOT DO using DVD-R).
