Where's the directory in Vista?

I want to copy my Outlook 2003 stuff into my new Outlook 2007 running in
Vista. It appears that the default Outlook.pst file is sitting in
c:\Users\Walter\AppDat\Local\Microsoft\Outlook. So I thought I could copy
the file from the old machine to that location. (I know it doesn't have to
go there but I thought I'd stay consistent. I went looking for the AppData
directory under my user directory and I don't see it. The directory must be
hidden or something because it is not one of the default directories under
the Walter directory. Does anybody know why this would not be visible?

Overwriting any data files can cause corruption
Copying to the default User folder, in Vista, can I believe give rise to
Vista permissions / protection issues & as I dont use Vista I cannot comment
on the correct Vista way

When I turned on visibility of the hidden folders I still didn't see the
Appdata folder so I took off down the wrong path. Interestingly it took a
reboot to end up seeing that Appdata folder.

Now I see it and I have a new problem. Something I did in my first attempts
to get the rather large .pst file (500Mg) from the old computer in to the
new Outlook on the new computer has made that Outlook.pst say it is 1G in
size and I don't even see any archives or old mail or anything from the old
computer sitting in the new version of Outlook. If Outlook is reading in
the 1G file, called Outlook.pst how come I can't see it? It probably has
two copies of the 500M old .pst in it.

I want to start fresh. Can I delete the 1G Outlook.pst file?

Well, that's odd. When I first looked at the Outlook.pst it was 1G, then a
few minutes later it was 750M, now it is 256K. Seems it was doing some
house cleaning in the background, maybe taking care of deleting the two 500M
files I had opened and then removed.

Anyway I have used Open to open the old computer's 500M file and it is now
sitting in a second Personal Folders folder so I will start dragging items
from the old Personal Folders into the new Personal Folders. Maybe
everything is okay.
