Where is that audio file??

I have a PP preso that has an audio file embedded. It plays
automatically when the preso is run (or when opened as a ".pps"). The
trouble is that I can't find that audio file anywhere in the preso;
there's no audio object I can find. I'm assuming it's on the first
slide because that's when the audio begins to play (and it continues
to play while the rest of the slides automatically transition from one
to the next).

The preso plays fine on a PC but doesn't play on a Mac. It looks like
the audio object is a ".wma". What I'd like to do is remove the old
audio file, convert it to mp3 (so all platforms can play it), and re-
embed it into the preso. I've found the file by saving as a "web
preso" but that still doesn't help me get rid of the old audio object
that is embedded in the preso.

Can someone provide some insight? I can do whatever mods are necessary
in PP 2007 or 2008 (as I have both on my Mac). Thanks in advance.

Look in the Transition pane (PPT 2003) or the Animation ribbon (PPT 2007) is
there a sound withe the transition? If so, select No sound
If saved as a MP3, you won't be able to embed the file. Y'll have to convert
it to wave or riff wave

Indeed, the audio is embedded in the Transition. I can select "no
sound" and that resolves the immediate issue but is there some way to
actually -remove- that embedded file without copying and pasting all
the slides into a new preso? The problem is that the audio in question
is not public domain and, even if it's not playing, I don't want to
distribute it with my preso.

Thanks!

Hi Rumplestiltskin

Save as a web page then delete the audio file from the folder this creates
then open the presso in ppt again and save as a ppt. Do this on a copy (I've
never actually tried it but don't see why it would be a problem).

Woo-hoo! You're absolutely right! I selected "no sound" for the
transition, saved the file under another name, quit PP, and re-opened
the file. *presto* The sound has disappeared from the list of
transition audio. Problem totally solved!

Thanks to all who took the time to suggest solutions.

{I just love the Web!}

After setting it to No Sound, save the presentation under a new name,
close
it, quit PPT.

Then restart PPT and open the file. I think the sound will be gone from
the
list. To be sure, check the size of the files. The new one should be
about
a sound file's worth of data smaller. ;-)

Well that may well be simpler than my plan but.. but... but... ok, I
concede. You win. Again. ;-)

Y'know how the medicos have that oath that includes "First, do no harm"?

Mine starts out "First, do no work"

You see, I knew there was a reason we get on :)
Always try the easy stuff first.

Y'know, that was just a hunch and I meant to follow that up with "and if
that
doesn't work, try Lucy's suggestion."

Really I did.

As they say in Scotland "Aye, right."
