Where did my pst file go?

running outlook 2007 on xp. Email was fine this morning. by lunch I
received an error that Outlook couldn't find my .pst folder. I created a
outlook pst folder in my documents and in there my pst file resides there as
I find it easier for backup. The folder is still there but the pst file is
gone. I have enough knowledge to not go in there and remove the file. I'm
just not sure if a virus or some kind of problem could wipe it out. My
email is working as I can send and receive email but it is saving it in a
different location and I cannot find my pst folder.

Did you try using Windows search and turn on searching hidden files and folders?

yes. not finding .psts anywhere except for the new one it has created

Try searching using the wildcard, i.e., *.pst

Try searching using the wildcard, i.e., *.pst

Windows XP's and Vista's search doesn't require wildcards.

did that. this is a hard one to figure out. Is there anything you are
aware virus or outlook 2007 related that would wipe out a pst?

I have never heard of any condition that would arbitrarily wipe out a PST.
