Where did games go?

Hello all. I just installed SP 2, and have been a little
unstable, but I am getting by. My defrag program is
acting funny, even when I give it an exception in the
firewall. I also had to uninstall DIVX codec. With it
instaled, SP 2 crashed everytime I right clicked on
anything. The most curious thing I found is after
installation, all my installed MS games (hearts,
Solitaire, Freecell, etc), have disappeared. Can anyone
help me out, as even though this nisn't too important, SP
2 caused a change in my system I Can't account for.

Thanks

Start, Run, TYPE: inf

right click on the file (games.inf) and select install.

That is if your right click doesn't lock the system....

Getting and Installing Windows XP Service Pack 2

ussel_installsp2.mspx

"Failure to clean up spyware and adware on your computer
before installing SP2 can cause issues and in some cases
make your computer difficult to restart. You may not even
know that spyware or adware programs are installed on
your system. And some spyware or adware programs may not
cause serious issues with SP2, but it's a good idea to
run spyware and adware removal programs before installing
SP2.

As another precaution, before you install SP2, you need
to disable antivirus software you're using and close any
open programs. This is always a good idea before
installing new software, but it's especially important
when you're installing a service pack. And for SP2, it's
important that you disable any antivirus software
especially. Some antivirus software can interfere with
the SP2 installation. To disable the software, follow
instructions from the antivirus software provider that
you use. Check the software provider's Web site for exact
steps."

Thanks for the reply. Found the games inf file, right
clicked install (system did not lock up, woohoo!)but
nothing happened. Again, I know this is not a huge
production, but I would like to understand why installing
SP 2 caused this to happen. All I got with the lap top is
a restore cd, so I can't install anything from a Windows
disk.
Thanks again for all your help!

You can also use Add/remove in Cntl Panel, Add/Rem Windows Components,
Accessories, Details, Games, Details. Uncheck the games, reboot, go back and
recheck. You might be asked for your XP disk.

That's it! Forgot all about the add/remove Windows
components. Didn't even need a Windows disk! Now, if I
can only figure out what happened in the first place!

Anyway, thanks again for all your help!
