When typing, symbols other than what is on the keys keep popping .

Somehow my keyboard has been invaded with weird symbols. It does not do it
when I am typing here, but it does when I am sending or responding to email
in Outlook. Any ideas on how to make the gremlins go away and get my keyboard
back to normal??
