When to use Multiple PST files

I've just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003, and the conversion went
through fine.

However, I was previously using multiple PST files because:
a) I didn't want to get anywhere near the 2gb limit and risk
corruption, and
b) I feel safer having my filing in separate files - it just seems
more manageable.

However, now the 2Gb limit no longer applies (with any new .pst files)
I'm wondering about moving things back into less separate files,
partly because I appreciate the new Search Folders facility, but
notice that it will only display from one file.

So my question is:
What's a recommended size for a single pst file, how should I decide
whether to keep multiple files, and are there any performance
implications (e.g. when displaying large folders)?

TIA

One thought, unless they've changed things in OL2003, if you import old msgs
into a new format pst file the received dates will be changed. These may be
important to you.
