when to install software

I'm re-installing Windows 2000 Pro in a dual-boot configuration with
my present Win95B. After I install the Win2K, should I install my apps
*before* or *after* I install the many MS updates?

Also, I noticed in my first installation of Win2K (before it crashed
and I had to reformat the partition), that a number of programs that
I'd installed on Win95 also seemed to run OK under Win2K. Is this OK,
or should those programs also be reinstalled afresh under Win2K?
Thanks for any help - vb

No need to install your applications.

Once the Win2K installation is complete, just try to open
the existing applications from Win2K. Probably they might
run "windows installer". Sometimes they ask for that
application CD for updation.
