Not that I know--maybe someone else has a workaround.
The same thing happens when you try to retrieve a value from a close
workbook
in excel. But if you open that other (sending) workbook, then exce
can get all
the data.
I'm not sure that there is a workaround like this betwee
applications--but you
may want to try that.

Just a guess...
Is the length of the text brought over in the mailmerge about 25
characters?
If yes, then I think you hit a restriction in the way window
passes information
between applications.
I don't know a pretty way around it.
Maybe you can use multiple cells in excel????
