When logging in, password box loses focus

When the computer is locked and the screensaver is running, resuming does not
perform very well.

There are a couple of problems.

First, when pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL, I do not always get the password prompt.
Instead, it may just stop the screensaver, and I have to press CTRL-ALT-DEL
again.

Second, while typing my password, suddenly the password box will lose the
focus. I could be halfway through typing when this happens. I have to click
the password box and finish the password. ALT-TAB reveals two Windows Logon
choices - one that works, and one that appears to do nothing, which is
stealing the focus (or it appears that way).

Anyone have any ideas?

Screensaver is Aurora. I will try other screensavers to see if this makes
any difference. Vista is SP1 Business.

Have you tried updating the video graphics driver to the latest version available?
