When I try to insert ToC, it displays some ToC code

Since yesterday, my automated fields are not displayed correctly. Instead, i
get a code.

For eg: In the footer, when i try to add Page# and # of pages, I get {PAGE}
of {Numpages}.

In the Toc, I get {toc \o "1-2" \h \z \u}.

All my word documents are displaying like this. Can you help?

Press Alt+F9 to switch between display of field codes (what you

Thanks a lot. It helped! I'm able to see the toc as I desired.

Just for curiosity sake, when i try to do a right click on the Toc, and
press "Toggle field code", it displayed some junk. any idea why?

Alt+F9 is the keyboard shortcut for clicking on "Toggle field
code", so it's basically the same thing.
