When i insert a TOC into my report it looks fine, but when i email a copy to
anyone else it reverts the TOC all to page 1? Does anyone know why this
happens and how i can rectify the problem? Thanks

I believe that the receiver needs to uncheck the following option.
Tools, Options, General tab, Allow starting in Reading Layout.
The above is for 2003 and prior, instructions for 2007 may differ.

This is usually a result of opening the document in Reading Layout view
(Full Screen Reading view in Word 2007) , which is used only when a document
is opened directly from an attachment. There is nothing you can do on your
end to prevent this except offer suggestions:

1. Suggest that the recipient not open the attachment directly but instead
save the file to the hard drive before opening it.

2. If that is not acceptable, suggest that the recipient disable Reading
Layout/Full Screen Reading view. This is done on the General tab of Tools
options in Word 2003 and earlier and at Office Button | Word Options |
Popular in Word 2007.

3. If the recipient is not willing to do either (1) or (2), then point out
that it will be necessary to update the TOC with F9 after switching to
another view.
