When email comes into my Inbox, it disappears before I even open .

I hear the alert when a message comes in and I see the number (1) next to
"Inbox", but when I open the Inbox, there is nothing there. I tried emailing
myself and when the email came in, it was not in the Inbox when I opened it.
I double-checked my message rules to see if it's going into another folder.
It is not. It goes into the Inbox folder and disappears. Also, my mail for
the last two days disappeared.

Check your view filters on the inbox to make sure you aren't hiding
anything.

It's set to view all messages. I know that's not it because that wouldn't
explain why my messages from the last two days disappeared. What could be
causing my messages to disappear as soon as they come into my Inbox, and also
from the last two days?

I don't know why no one seems to have the answer to this question. Others on
this board are having similar problems. Can anyone provide an answer? All
new mail coming into my Inbox disappears before I even have a chance to click
on it. I have checked the view and it is set to all messages. What else
could be the problem?

Well, you posted this a scant two hours after your last reply - give people
a chance! This is a peer support newsgroup, remember - everyone is
volunteering their time in here. I replied as I did originally because 99%
of the time it's a funky view that is causing this symptom.

Other options:

Disable all your rules, and see if the problem persists.
Check to make sure you don't have autoarchive enabled.
Check your PST file - how big is it? Have you compacted it recently?
Try running Outlook once using the /cleanviews switch (from your start | run
line, browse to the location of outlook.exe, and put /cleanviews at the end
of the line, outside the quotes). This will set *all* your views back to the
default, note.

I'm using Outlook 2003 and I've noticed in the recent past that some of my
incoming messages are disappearing, too! Gradually it has worsened and now
it seems that all my messages disappear before I can click on them to read.
Simply clicking on the message causes it to "poof" - go away!

Lawench, I've tried all your suggestions above. Has MS addressed this issue
at all? I can't seem to find any reference to this glitch anywhere. It is -
however, quite frustrating to have messages disappear.

Does anyone have the solution?

Thanks, in advance for your kind attention.

Hi All,
I am facing same problem. Its only INBOX though. I have created a subfolder
under Inbox and set a rule for all messages to go to subfolder under INBOX as
soon as they are delivered. Messages staying under this sub folder. Atleast I
am not losing my e-mails:)

This is realy frustating but unfortunately not able to figure out yet.

Regards,

Jamil

Click View>Arrange By>Current View and make sure "Messages" is checked.
