What's wronge with the Minolya Multi Pro

P

Paul

As subject. I was thinking of getting one for M/F scanning, the scanner
sells new in the UK for £2000 but I have seen loads on eBay lately and they
have all gone for between £250 and £650. Is their something wrong with this
scanner to warrant such a huge drop in value on the S/H market.

Thanks

Paul

Nothing wrong at all. But be sure of which model you are purchasing.

The Scan Multi was the first. Its great but lacks ICE and GEM, and is
lower res. I own, use it an like it very much. It is no longer made.
Most likely what you are seeing $250 to $350 used.

The Multi II came out next. Same res, better firmware, faster and ICE &
GEM. Most likely $300-$500 used.

The Multi Pro is the latest. Excellent. Sharper, higher res, faster,
better firmware, ICE 4 and GEM plus other goodies. Perhaps not as good
as the Nikon, but that's a debatable subject around here. They are very
close and both very good. Worth the $2000 new. $800 plus used I would think.

If you see a Multi Pro for $250 used, approach carefully. Could be a
bargain or abused junk.
