What's gone wrong?

ok heres what i have on my hands, i dont know what is causing this sticky
situation, so heres a description of it all.
i guess it all started a few months back, with my internet connection. It
just happened suddenly, i couldnt go on the internet, (i have 2 connections,
1 LAN and 1 Wireless connection) so i checked the "Network and Sharing
Center" icon on my taskbar, and it shows an error, so i diagnosed the problem
and it happens to be a problem with an outdated LSP. so i let Vista delete
that and install an updated one (at least thats what i thought it did).
afterwards, everything was fine. however, the problem persists, and the same
issue comes up every few weeks. I've tried everything, from deleting the
outdated LSP and reinstalling, to system restore (which is more effective,
but i'd prefer not to do that). The problem has stopped comming up for 2
whole months now.
Recently though, i've run into a trojan virus. I've just cleaned everything
up, but just can go on the internet. i called my ISP company, and they told
me to unplug the power cable and re-plug after a few seoconds. All other
computer in my network but mine function fine now, they get to use the
internet and all. But whenever I try use Windows Live Messenger, Firefox,
Internet Explorer, Skype, nothing connects, and whenever i close a program,
the pop-up which says "(Program) has stopped working" appears. The only way i
can go on the internet is by using Internet Explorer (64-bit).

Does anyone have any clue to what is going on??

Hello perhaps giving your PC a static IP will solve this problem see
turorial here
http://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm

If you know the ip address it uses for its configuration page then you
should try to give vista a static IP address so it will connect the the
router right away..
for example (you can see this in the router manual if you dont know it)
if you type 192.168.1.1 to access the router config then
go to vista inside the network connections and right click on the TCPIP
entry

properties> and give it a static address that is somethinng like this
192.168.1.5 where instead of 5 you can use any number except 1 (because
thats the ip of your router). a MASK of 255.255.255.0
a gatway that matches the IP of the router, in my example 192.168.1.1
and the same for "prefered dns servers"

ok i've just tried that, and i guess it works if it was an issue with my IP,
cuz it still shows that im connected to the internet, but still, the only way
to view webpages was by using Internet Explorer 64-bit, which really sux cuz
i cant view any flash videos or wutever, and i cant work at all without
proper internet (thx for the tip tho, may come in handy in the future).

problem persits:
I) cannot view webpages through 32-bit browsers (e.g Firefox, IE...).
Only on IE 64-bit
II) pop-up window saying "(Program) has stopped working" whenever they
are closed
III) IM programs like Windows Live Messenger + Skype will not connect and
closes automatically as described in (II).

any suggestions (but to install XP or anything like that) to fixing this up
would be great. Thanks again.
