Whats going on here?

Hi All,

All of a sudden i am getting error messages on my Internet Explorer browser,
"internet explorer cannot display the webpage". I have attempted to remedy
the problem by deleting tmp, cookies in the browser. I am able to ping the
router and a DNS server so i know that the machine is getting out to the
internet. I have also completed an ipconfig /flushdns - /registerdns. All
this to no avail.

This is really becoming a big problem, there are no sites in my favourites
that are not affected.

Please could someone help and offer some advise to solve this problem.

What happens if you disable ZA? Your router most likely has a firewall
but you may still want to enable the Windows firewall for this test.

You've now posted about your problem in both the Vista and XP groups.

Which OS are you using???

There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a
hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:

2. Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan (only!) in Safe
Mode with Networking, if need be:

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested

1.Clear the (IE) temporary Internet files and the history cache.
Click 'Start' and then click 'Run'... then type (or copy/paste)
"inetcpl.cpl" (w/out quotation marks) into the box, then click the 'OK'
button.
In Internet Properties panel 'General' tab, under 'Browsing history', click
'Delete...'button, in 'Delete Browsing History' panel, click the 'Delete
all...' button then place a checkmark into the box beside 'Also delete
files and settings stored by add-ons', Click 'Yes' and exit the Internet
Properties panel by clicking the 'OK' button.

2.Clean HDD
Click 'Start' and then click 'Run...' then type (or copy/paste) "cleanmgr"

From what I`ve read in newsgroups , IE7 has been getting bogged down
over the past 6 - 8 months . I very rarely use it , instead I use
Opera and Firefox .
