WHATIS:A document saved in 97-2003 format but CONVERT button is ab

a word document has saved in 97-2003 format, but when i opened it in Word
2007, it appears not in compatibility mode, also the convert button in office
button does not appears. This case happens only for this document.

What can be the problem.

Are you sure that the document was saved in Word 97-2003 format? It could be
that someone has changed the file extension to *.doc for a Word 2007
document. To confirm this, look in the compatibility options: Click the
Office button | Word Options. In the Advanced category, scroll down to
"Compatibility options for" and see what it says for "Lay out this document
as if created in."
