The clue is in the error message.
You email address, as in cathydothartATlivedotcom is NOT an IMAP Mail
server. It's an email address.
Go to Live.com and enter the correct server settings.

You entered your email address where the server name should go.

Windows Mail, which replaces Outlook Express in Vista, cannot access any
http (webmail) email account.
However, you can use the newer Windows Live Mail to access your http
Live/Hotmail/MSN accounts using DeltaSynch like you may have done using
Outlook Express on XP.
Or, you can use either Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail to access POP3 or
IMAP accounts.
MSFT recently added POP3 access to Hotmail/Live accounts from most
countries.

However, Windows Mail is hard-coded to reject Hotmail/Live/MSN accounts, but
you can fool it by entering a fake email address ([email protected]), then
changing it to your real address ([email protected]).
