Does anyone knows how I could find out in Windows what ports are being used
by what services/applications. Are the used ports being listed somewhere,
but where? I need to know where the used ports are listed....... Thanks .

Netstat -an is a basic built in method to list listening ports. Fport, which
is a free download, will give you more detail mapping to application where
possible. A free for personal use firewall such as Sygate or Kerio will also
do the same. If you are unsure about a port it always helps to search Google
or Sarc for it using specific information such as port 139 tcp. Do not
hesitate to do a virus and trojan scan if unknown ports show up. Many ports
that are necessary for Windows networking are vulnerable to attacks from the
internet which is why you need a firewall to block uninitiated inbound
attempts. --- Steve

In addition to others suggestions,
Try TCPVIEW from Sysinternals.com (free). It's GUI though.
