What is wrong with this forum?

Is any one else noticing this forum is not working properly. I'm not getting
notifications and the forum pages cannot be refreshed. And what I mean by
refreshed is, I see the same posts and I don't see my reply's, nor do I see
new posts even hours later. Its like the forum is frozen. Is it me or is
anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions on fixing it?

It was reported in October 2009 and follow-ups have yielded a response of
"still working, don't call us we will call you".

You comments are all over the map: different problems, different
resolutions.

I'm not getting notifications

I believe people have been complaining about that for a long time. I don't
use the MS Discussion Groups web interface much. So I don't rely on its
notification feature.

I see the same posts and I don't see my reply's, nor do I see new

It seems a little silly to ask why you don't see responses by using the very
interface where you don't see response, dontcha think?

There are at least three common ways to view MS newsgroups (aka discussion
groups): MS Discussion Groups web interface, Google Groups web interface,
and accessing the MS news server directly through a news reader application
such as Outlook Express (Windows Mail on Vista and later), Outlook (?), etc.
There is a fourth method that I don't know much about: thecodecage.com, I
think.

There is no "trouble free" method. Each method relies on an external server
(one or more computers, actually), and every server has had problems at one
time or another. I suspect that Google Groups would be the easiest for you
to use.

But the point is: if you are having trouble with one method, try using
another method. However, bear in mind that your postings might be viewable
only one on the server that you post them to. And as you've learned,
sometimes not even that.

(Usually, the various servers synch up later.)

Its like the forum is frozen.

That may very well be the case. But it is hard to say for sure because you
are not specific.

The MSDG system was indeed frozen from some time on Jan 9 through some time
on Jan 11 (as I recall), then again for a shorter period on Jan 11 and/or
Jan 12 (depending on your timezone). See the thread (aka discussion) titled
"FYI: MSDG not displaying posts;..." started on Jan 9.

To my knowledge, it has not been "frozen" per se for long periods since
then. But there can always be short-term delays for any of a number of
reasons. Also, you might have lost track of your postings during "frozen"
periods because of the screwy way that the MSDG web interface works. Even
searching for your own posting can result in an incomplete list, not to
mention unsorted.

So your perception of "frozen" might be incorrect at this point of time.

(Google Groups might be a better way to find your postings. But even GG
advanced search is not reliable, in my experience.)

You begining to sound like you're apologising for another defective
Microsoft system. At the end of the day I couldn't care which server is
playing up although I appreciate that there is no such thing as 100%
reliability.

In my case I only have a 50% long term chance of a posting success. I never
get any replies notified - this is not surprising when you see my corrupted
email address on the successful posts

Hardly sounds like a satisfactory service in my view!

Not at all. I don't know where you got that idea.

You might if you are trying to get help. The point I was making is: there
are alternatives to the MS Discussion Groups web server.

But I was also making the point that there is no "perfect" NG
server/interface either. Certainly, the MSDG web server is the least
reliable, or so it seems. But neither the MS news server nor Google Groups
is "trouble free", as one person put it.

You'll get no argument from me on that point.
