What is this file?

Hello,

When I logon to my computer I get a message that says
Windows cannot find Winlogin.exe. What is this file?
And how do I fix this?

Hi Nancy.

I agree with Marc - you probably have a virus on your computer. There
appear to be at least 2 virus that create a file with this name, with
the most recent one being W32/Spybot.worm.lz

Make sure your antivirus software is completely up to date, with the
virus definition files not less than a week old, and do a complete
virus scan of your hard drive.

Also make sure you have the MS 03-026 security patch installed (the
one for the Blaster virus). You can download it from
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp
