what is the formula to convert time (3:46) to total seconds?

I'm looking for a formula that will convert a time in minutes and seconds to
total seconds. EX 3:46 which is 3 minutes and 46 seconds and is 226 seconds
total.

Hi!

If your time is in cell A1:

You can apply a Custom format of: and it will display as 226.

Or:

=A1*24*60*60

Format the cell as GENERAL.

Note: if you try A1*86000 you'll get less than 226.

224.953703703704000
