Hi,

My computer is running so slow, when I check the process, I found that
svchost.exe takes up most of the cpu times. what is svchost.exe actually?
can I terminate it?

Thanks

Hosts the services running on your computer

Better to stop individual services that you do not need running via
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

Better to not stop any service unless you know precisely what you are doing.

It's perfectly normal to have several instances of Svchost.exe running
simultaneously.

A Description of Svchost.exe in Windows XP

However, if Svchost.exe is using a large portion of your CPU
cycles, it may well have been "hijacked" by a worm, Trojan, or scumware.
What results to do get from your antivirus and ant-spyware scans?
