HI! I used to able to connect to my XP computer ( PII ) through my win98
second addition ( PI Pro) but since I had crash on my XP ( a always log off
right after I log on problem ) I get this message when I click on the
network icon in win98 ( In the "Enter Network Password" box )

Resource \\my computername\IPC$
Please enter network password.

Now I have entered all known passwords and it does not accept any of them. I
also tried to use previous connects in the file manager that was still
listed there and it still asks me for a password.

NOTE: My XP machine is able to view shares on the win98 machine, its just
the other way is the problem.

does anyone have any reason for this..?

There's no correct response to the IPC$ prompt. Run the Network Setup
Wizard on the XP computer to fully enable file sharing. That's
usually all that's usually needed to eliminate the prompt.

If that doesn't solve the problem, and the XP computer runs XP Pro
(not XP Home), and you've explicitly disabled simple file sharing,
then create a user account on XP Pro with the same user name and
password that you use to log onto Win98.

HI! I got a new problem now.. tell me if I should repost.

I can no longer view folder properties by clicking on properties or by
clicking of the sharing option in explorer.

How ever I can use both by clicking on the actual drive letter. do you know
what could do this? or where I should look in my settings to see what's
going on?

I tried a repair by using boot disk and then choosing install but this did
not fix it.
