What happened?

I have successfully downloaded, installed and seem to have only limited
problems with RC1. So I have two questions:

1: I am unable to install my ATI disk, getting the following error
G:\install\setup.exe ups system denied access to the specified file...then
another screen comes up stating that Autoplay menu 3.0 Runtime has stopped
working and of course checking for problem and resolved in next
version...meanwhile my media center does not work...cannot find TV tuner...I
have ATI ALL in Wonder 2006...any suggestions?

2: I have XP installed on C...installed RC1 on E...and have the Beta 2 on D.
I have not been able to get into XP except in safe mode. Just a bit ago, I
wanted to look around in XP...clicked older version of windows and
surprise...XP installed fully...stating I had recovered from a serious
problem. It downloaded some updates (an update to net framework) and said I
had to re-boot...and now I am back to only being able to access in safe
mode...This has me totally perplexed...any ideas on how to make XP work again?

and finally...should I remove Beta 2 from my D drive since RC! is working
fairly well?

Thanks ahead of time for the consideration and help!

In XP from safe mode do a system restore going back right before the Vista
install. Whether to remove Beta 2 or not us up to you.

Thanks Rock; but it didn't work...restoration incomplete...tried it
twice...However Vista must be attempting a repair...the first time In logged
off Vista and clicked on Earlier Windows; XP installed itself again
fully...it just kept telling me I had recovered from a serious error and then
wouldn't send a report...attemmpt 1...rebooted...would only go into safe
mode...tried attempt 2from safe mode and it did not complete either! I
thionk my PC is as perplexed as I am!

That is strange. Usually that message means a hardware, driver or registry
problem. The Vista install should not have touched the innards of XP -
problems with the boot loader yes, but not the files. Did you look in
device manager for any devices showing a ?

I would think the next step is a repair install of XP, or reimage if you've
got it.

Yes...I did check device manager...all is well there on both RC! and XP.
BTW...XP opened correctly again...even the media center is working and no
error message this time! stranger and stranger...I guess I'll continue
searching or try to figure out how to reinstall XP...right now it won't let
me...won't boot from disk either...Perhaps I should just re-image now while
XP is still open!
