Under Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Advanced > "Force off-screen
compositing even under Terminal Server".

What does that mean in English? The "What's This" on-line help says:

Specifies that you want to force off-screen compositing even if you are
running Terminal Server. This will eliminate the flashing you see with the
compositing normally used by Internet Explorer running under Terminal
Server, however, choosing this option might severely decrease the
performance of Internet Explorer running under Terminal Server.

But what exactly is "compositing"??

From http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q293/5/13.ASP:

"Compositing" is the process of combining two images to form a new image. The
most common compositing operation is an "over," in which one image is placed
over another. Compositing effects can cause flashing when you are running
Internet Explorer with Terminal Services. If you enable this option, you can
eliminate the flashing but you might severely decrease the performance of
Internet Explorer running with Terminal Services. For a sample page that uses
compositing effects, see the following Microsoft Web site:
